Welcome
I have broad experience as a writer, editor, and publishing professional. My main passion is studying and writing about environmental science and natural history. My most recent book is Wisconsin Waters: the Ancient History of Lakes, Rivers, and Waterfalls. Like my award-winning Wisconsin State Parks: Extraordinary Stories of Geology and Natural History, my new book explores the geology and natural history of Wisconsin, but this one uses popular waterways as entry points. Similar to my State Parks book, Wisconsin Waters includes travel guides to help readers to get out and see the evidence of the state's fascinating ancient history, first hand. My third book, Wisconsin Rocks! A Guide to Geologic Sites in the Badger State, includes more sites that rockhounds and casual explorers alike will find interesting and even surprising. I have coauthored a number of environmental studies textbooks and have worked in numerous other fields in the natural and social sciences as a writer and editor. When I am not at work--and often when I am "at work"--I am enjoying the forests and waters of Wisconsin and neighboring states, as well as the mountains of the western and eastern states.
